CDB Launches Training on Advanced Data Analysis Using Power BI and SPSS

Cairo, 15 September 2025

under the EIGS Grant contract implemented by CDB,  a two-day program entitled “Advanced Data Analysis Using Power BI and SPSS” was organized. The training, attended by 17 staff members from the Foreign Agricultural Relations Department (FAR) at the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation (MALR), was designed to strengthen institutional capacities in evidence-based decision making and modern data management.

The opening day introduced participants to the fundamentals of advanced data analysis and highlighted the importance of transforming raw data into clear and actionable insights to inform strategic choices. The sessions presented the potential of Power BI as a tool for building interactive dashboards that allow complex data to be summarised and visualised in a user-friendly way. Participants also explored how statistical tests can be used to analyze relationships within datasets to generate forecasts that support planning and policy development.

On the second day, the training shifted toward practical applications, combining statistical theory with hands-on experiences. Hosted at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University, the sessions provided an interactive space where participants applied descriptive and inferential analysis, experimented with forecasting models, and learned how visual analytics can transform information into effective communication tools. By working through real-life examples, the trainees were able to combine theoretical concepts with professional practice, reinforcing the value of data-driven approaches in agricultural governance and international relations.
