The EU-ZIRA3A Programme has successfully concluded a two-day practical training entitled “Sampling of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants for Visual Inspection”, organized under the activities of the EIGS Grant. The training brought together 39 specialists from the Egyptian Plant Quarantine Department, enhancing their technical expertise in sampling, inspection, and pest detection.

The training combined both theoretical and practical components. During the first day, participants explored the fundamental principles of sampling, pest diagnosis, and methods of prevention and control, deepening their understanding of how to maintain plant health and ensure export compliance.

On the second day, sessions were held at the Faridale Factory, where participants engaged in field-based exercises that applied theoretical knowledge to real-life situations. Through on-site inspection and hands-on sampling practice, the trainees strengthened their technical capacities, improving accuracy in pest detection and fostering early diagnosis to reduce losses and enhance product quality.

The training contributed to improving efficiency across farms and factories by promoting better pest management, minimizing pesticide residues, and reinforcing safety standards in agricultural exports.
