Ongoing Rehabilitation Brings New Life to Beni Suef’s Artificial Insemination Centre

30 June 2025 | Beni Suef

Under the EU-ZIRA3A Programme and in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, significant progress has been made in the maintenance and rehabilitation of the Artificial Insemination Center and selected veterinary units across Beni Suef Governorate. These works are part of Tender No.1 under Lot 3 – CIG B1AB7377B1, implemented by FMT Engineering Company and supervised by AICS/Cairo.

The initiative supports efforts to enhance extension services and veterinary infrastructure, helping local extensionists and veterinary professionals better serve rural communities and livestock keepers. The rehabilitation includes internal and external structural upgrades, thermal insulation, installation of electrical, plumbing systems and drainage systems, and restoration of equipment such as doors and windows.

In the Artificial Insemination Center, improvements have already transformed several key areas. Works include roof insulation for semen collection and lab buildings, internal plastering and painting, pipes connections for cooling fans of barns, and restoration of bull barns and administrative offices.

Meanwhile, rehabilitation has also commenced in ten veterinary units—seven located in Ihnasia district and three in Samasta district. Units in Nina, El Dair, Manshiat El Haj, El Mamalik, Sedment El Gabal, Beni Hany, and Tama Fayoum have undergone extensive demolition, re-plastering, floor restoration, and utility installation. Each facility is being upgraded to meet the technical standards for safe, clean, and efficient veterinary service delivery.

This progress demonstrates the project’s commitment to sustainable rural development by revitalizing essential veterinary and extension service infrastructure. The coming weeks will see continued plastering, wiring, and material deliveries, ensuring smooth advancement of the next rehabilitation phases.

EU-ZIRA3A Programme remains committed to strengthening the operational capacity of agricultural cooperatives, Collective Agricultural Committees, and Water User Associations through improved facilities and enhanced working conditions. The initiative aligns with broader goals of sustainable natural resource management, improved animal productivity, and resilient agri-food systems across Beni Suef, Sohag, and Assiut.
