EU-ZIRA3A Programme Delivers First Batch of IT Supplies to Enhance Agricultural Services in Egypt

Sohag, Assiut, and Beni Suef, Egypt – July 7, 2025

The EU Integrated Rural Development Programme for Egypt (EU-ZIRA3A) has successfully delivered its first batch of IT supplies under the Supply Contract titled “Supply of Equipment for Offices, Extension Departments, and Artificial Insemination Centres” in the governorates of Sohag, Assiut, and Beni Suef. This milestone marks a significant step forward in strengthening agricultural extension services and supporting small-scale farmers in these regions

The initiative, part of the €27.3 million EU-ZIRA3A Programme funded by the European Union and Italy, is implemented by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS Cairo). It aims to empower local communities and promote socio-economic development for improved livelihoods in rural areas of Assiut, Sohag, and Beni Suef.

The delivered IT supplies will reinforce the Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine Directorates and the Livestock Development Project across the three governorates. By equipping offices, extension departments, and artificial insemination centres with essential tools, the programme enhances the capacity of local institutions to deliver vital services to small-scale farmers, fostering sustainable agricultural practices and rural development.

This delivery reflects the EU-ZIRA3A Programme’s commitment to driving impactful change by strengthening rural institutions and ensuring farmers have access to improved services and knowledge. It represents an important step towards achieving inclusive and sustainable growth across Upper Egypt.
